Australia’s most famous horse race, the Melbourne Cup, certainly is, as it says it is… “the race that stops a nation”
Another sell out this year and the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino team presented a stunning seafood buffet and beautifully themed room for their annual Race Luncheon.
With G.H Mumm at the ready, the champagne flowed and so did the conversation. Stunning outfits were on display with the best dressed receiving prizes.
An auction for a portrait of popular Australian actor Samuel Johnson, painted by internationally acclaimed Australian artist & comedian, Anh Do was hugely popular. Raffles and sweeps a-plenty kept punters excited and listening for their number, happy to donate cash to a very good cause.
All proceeds went to the charity “Love Your Sister” dedicated to a brave woman, Connie Johnston (Samuel’s sister), who recently passed away after a long battle with cancer. Connie and Sam have spent many years raising funds to vanquish the dreaded disease.
With direct TAB and Casino access, the luncheon crowd mingled with the thousands of revellers who had filled the Casino and it’s Cairns Conference Venues for the biggest race of the year.
